Cadaver Lab Episode 62: Team Argento

August 15th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

This episode we dedicate the episode to one of the sickest mothers in film making… That’s right, it’s Argento! Is he sick because he puts some of the most twisted story lines to film? Maybe… Is he the sickest because he has some of the most disgusting gore effects in his films? Maybe… But if you asked me it’s because he has his daughter show her boobies in his films… just weird…

Anyhoo… Sick as he may be, he is a great director. When I realized that I hadn’t seen quite a few of his films Johnny, Stephen, and I decided to rectify that on this episode. Stephen and I talk about The Bird with the Crystal Plumage on Classics, Johnny and I talk about Opera, Trauma, and Sleepless.  All in all, kick ass flicks!

Don’t forget that we also have some kick ass talk about Creepers (a.k.a. Phenomena) on It Came from the Public Domain.

Shane rounds out the chat with another episode of Ear Fear!

Notes:

Cadaver Lab Bonus Episode! (61) - The Phantasm Retrospective

July 25th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

That’s right… a BONUS episode!!!  What exactly is a bonus episode you ask? Well, we’re not even really sure either but for this one we focused solely on the Phantasm franchise.

Being a special bonus episode, we don’t include all of the regular segments, but we fill your earhole with so much shit about the Phantasm franchise that you’re likely to ooze yellow pus.

Ferguson helps us out on this episode as well lending his expertise on the music. We also play a few tunes from the soundtrack as well as a couple of tunes by bands who wrote songs based on Phantasm.  We play The Lurking Corpses, Graveyard Devourment and Tall Man by Antiworld.

Cadaver Lab Episode 60 - The Anthology Show

July 18th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

That’s right folks… what’s better than listening to your humble Cadaver Lab hosts talk about a handful of horror stories? It’s listening to your humble Cadaver Lab hosts talk about 50 horror stories! Don’t worry people… This won’t get into the 10 or 11 hour range for the show… We kept it short at almost 4 hours.

Anyhow here’s what’s in store for you this episode:

-Ear Fear - Our resident musical expert Shane Diablo gives us another dose of the good stuff in talking about Volbeat, Left For Dead, and The Independents.

-Cadaver Classics - Stephen and Mike talk about the Amicus classic Vault of Horror.

-It Came from the Public Domain - Aaron not only treats us to his thoughts on Night Train to Terror, but he also shows us what could be the worst musical interlude of any movie ever.

- Slasher Central - Grey talks about Open House.

-Johnny and Mike then talk about a duo of anthologies: From a Whisper to a Scream, and From Beyond the Grave.

Cadaver Lab Episode 59 - The Sorority Show

June 30th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

AARREEE YOOUUU RREEAAADDYYY! In the red corner we have young, hot, nubile, and sexy coeds rushing the most obnoxious sororities on the planet. In the blue corner… we have some old-balls dudes who are going to make tons of inappropriate comments about said young, hot, nubile, and sexy coeds!

That’s right folks, it’s the Cadaver Lab Sorority show! Here are the flicks we talk about this episode:

WARNING: Johnny goes ape-shit about one of these flicks… It’s like watching a hurricane!

Also, we have Slasher Central which compares the original House on Sorority Row (1983) with the 2009 Remake Sorority Row.  Aaron brings us his thoughts about Sisters of Death (1977) on It Came from the Public Domain.  Stephen and Mike talk about Black Sunday (1960), making up for missing Cadaver Classics last episode.

Last but not least, we introduce a brand new segment entitled Ear Fear! Shane Diablo, from the greatest horror-rock band in the world DieMonsterDie, gives us his take on some off the scary music that has been ringing in his ears.

Notes:

  • The music for this episode is from the band The Rosedales which is a band that I haven’t been able to stop listening to for the last few weeks.  Please go check them out on their official website.
  • The Cadaver Lab is now an official sponsor of the Summer’s Dead Festival here in Salt Lake City.  For more information, listen to the show or visit the site.  Whatever you do… get your balls there at the end of August!

Cadaver Lab Episode 58 - Urban Legends

June 11th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

There are three strikes against this episode even before it gets released… The first one is that since Mike’s recorder is in the shop, he had to use an inferior setup and it sounds kind of crappy… Secondly, Mike has a raging cold in this episode!

Man… that’s tough.  However, there are plenty of things that make up for those shitty circumstances… here they are:

Cadaver Lab Episode 57: The Psycho Lucky McKee

May 26th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

This episode Johnny and I picked some kick-ass flicks. Funny thing is that they were all directed by one man. That man is Lucky McKee. We talk about The Woods, Masters of Horror: Sick Girl, and May (which is a little extra creepy for me… you’ll hear why in the episode).

In It Came from the Public Domain, Aaron talks about Funeral Home (a.k.a. Cries in the night from 1980.

For Cadaver Classics Stephen and I talk about one of the greatest horror masterpieces of all time. We talk about Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. You may want to bring a mop for this one because we’re about to do some gushing.

May 16th, 2010 - 1 Comment(s)

You know the old saying: “It’s better late than never”?  Well, you all can be the judge of that since this episode is coming to you a week late!

Either way, we have chosen a bunch of flicks at random to chat about.  We have all the usual suspects and their respective segments… Stephen and Mike discuss House on Haunted Hill. Grey gives us our slasher fix discussing Curtains. Aaron gives us an overview of a list of random public domain films.  Johnny and Mike finish up all this random goodness by talking about Midnight Movie, Poultrygeist, and The Children…

Cadaver Lab Episode 55: Infected! (Fixed)

April 26th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

Sorry guys!  Accidentally linked episode 54 with this entry.  Should have been 55… Should be fixed!

Some of the most notorious horror movies are those that fall into this episode’s topic.  No body part is safe!  Stephen and Mike talk about I Drink Your Blood in the classics segment.  Aaron brings us his take on Virus.  Finally, Johnny and Mike discuss The Rage, Carriers, and Cabin Fever 2… Get ready to rumble, because unlike most episodes, there are definite differences in opinion for this episode.

Also, be afraid!  Ferguson shares his near-infinite knowledge of horror soundtracks and scores as he brings us The Ferguson Del Fagina Monologues.

Lastly, this episode we remember the passing of Peter Steele by playing some select Type O Negative tracks.

Cadaver Lab Episode 54: Aliens/Die Monster Die

April 13th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

We have a special treat to everybody this episode. Not only do we have the regular lineup, but we have a special treat for everyone.

This week, Stephen and Mike discuss Plan 9 from Outer Space, Johnny and Mike talk Critters, Undead, and Night of the Creeps.  We also have Grey covering Killer Workout in Slasher Central and Aaron talking They Came from Beyond Space in his segment It Came from the Public Domain.  Full show!

On top of all of that, Die Monster Die was gracious enough to let us play some tracks from their brand new album Fall to your Knees… Also, I had the chance to sit down with them to talk a little bit about the state of Die Monster Die. Check out their official website where you can download their album!

Enjoy!

Cadaver Lab Episode 53: The Mind Fuzz Episode

March 28th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

I know… I know… What is a mind fuzz… I’ve heard it all before… Just leave me alone!  Sorry, I felt like I had to get that out in the beginning.

Anyhow, Episode 53 is all about movies that will mess with your mind.  Stephen and I talk about David Lynch’s Eraserhead, Grey brings us his Slasher Central based on the flick Shrooms, Aaron brings us the Public Domain mind fuzz as he talks about Bloody Wednesday.  As if that wasn’t enough, Johnny Krueg and I talk about Adam Green’s Spiral, Session 9, and The Signal.

Lastly, there is a contest embedded in this episode.  Make sure to hit the forums for details!
