So, this is it! We finally got all the way through our Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th combo retrospectives… In this episode we tackle Jason X, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, and Freddy vs. Jason. Thank goodness that these films have more to offer than some of the “middle” sequels in either of these series because, though I love all the movies, they weren’t particularly great for the conversation. I mean, how many times can you say: “Then he went on a huge killing spree, then he died” and still make it interesting.
Of course, we do voicemails and some other listener feedback.
From time to time some of our listeners informs us that instead of just talking about things in the horror genre, they actually add something to make the genre stronger. Listener, Liam, has been kind enough to share a movie with us that he was involved in creating! I watched it and enjoyed it, so I figured that I’d put it up on the site so that you guys can check it out! Thanks to Liam for sharing with this and sending this description over:
Berserk is a short film that takes a look at the aftermath of a brutal massacre. Alex and Wes narrowly escape and must come to terms with the sudden and bizarre deaths of their friends, while stranded on the side of a country road.
Some friends and I made this movie for fun a few summers back, for an annual halloween short film festival here in Winnipeg. We wanted to try something that took place after the typical events of a slasher/monster movie. I co-wrote and co-produced it, and also make a cameo as ‘Scotty’, the guy who ends up in the fireplace. Good times!
In this day and age of podcasters reaching for the sky and podcasters selling out (see Corey’s Midnight Money Cast and Stephen’s JAFMPSBRB… “Just Another F#@$ Movie Podcast Sponsored By Red Bull), we’ve decided to get a little head start on putting together some business cards. After many hours of consideration, this is what Sam came up with (Compliments of Rhyno440)
This week we were fortunate enough to get an email with some art from none other than Stac from Creepy Kitch. On this front page, we have posted the censored version of this pic (so as not to offend the “normals”… not that any of those come to this site)… However, you can see the whole pic in all its glory inside the forums! Here it is!
For those of you who have been listening to the show lately, you know that Sam has called Kevin Bacon out on his uber-douchiness. Bacon has been rebuked by Sam because he has disowned any link to the horror genre even though that is where he found his start.
Has Kevin Bacon heard Sam’s threats and changed his tune? Is he actually becoming a decent human being? Is this a totally fake movie poster? You be the judge:
On the forums there has been some talk of Saw VI and even Saw VII. Yes… I did say VII. In fact, our own Dr. Smirnoff talked about how Saw VII would be the beginning of a new story arc trilogy.
There was discussion of what the plot would consist of and what direction was left for the series to go. Well, it seems like rhyno440 has his own idea of what is to come:
In an awesome show of kindness, Steve Wands took the time and put his talents to work to create the logo for the new Cadaver Lab T-Shirts! Steve is an uber-talented artist and all-around awesome dude!
His blog is laden with all sorts of horror topics including reviews and commentary. Every once in a while, we are treated to some of his artwork.
Just wanted to throw out a huge thanks to Steve! If you’re interested in checking out his work and/or picking up a tshirt, go to our Cafe Press store.
We here at the Cadaver Lab just received the following important notice. Please read and follow the directions herein:
