Cadaver Lab Episode 49: Before the “A” List

January 31st, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

You know how it’s been a while since the Cadaver Lab released an episode?  Well, not only is the wait over, but we’ve got a LOOONNNGGG episode for you to make up for lost time.

As you know, Episode 49 is the first episode that the Cadaver Lab has releast post-Sam, and while we can’t argue that the Cadaver Lab will never be the same, we feel like we’ve put together a show with more horror-content than your brain has ever consumed at one time.

Not only are we excited to present a bunch of new segments in this episode including Cadaver Classics, Slasher Central, and It Came from the Public Domain, but we are excited to introduce a brand new host.  This episode we discuss how some “A” list celebrities got their start in Horror.

Back in Full Force!

January 27th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

Just wanted to give everyone the heads up that production for the next episode is in full force!  The movies have been watched, the comics have been read, and the dick-joke cheat-sheet has been taken off the shelf and has been dusted off.

Recording started tonight on a few segments.  Contributors have already sent in their segments, notes are being taken, and preparations are in place for recording this Thursday and Friday!

Just as a little heads-up, Episode 49’s topic is going to be about Celebrity A-Listers who got their start in horror.  The episode will be out this weekend and promises to be excellent!

Mike’s Writing over at HorrorNews.net

January 14th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

You would never guess it by how “normal” he seems in his daily life, but Mike is actually kind of a horror-freak.  Not only does he feel like he has to run a horror podcast and write for the Examiner as the Salt Lake Horror Examiner, but he is now writing for HorrorNews.net!

His first article is up on Horror News’ front page today (1/14/2010), but will be moved soon.  The link on this post will be changed.  So, head over to HorrorNews.net, scroll down a little way, and read the article entitled: REQUIREMENTS FOR TRUE SCARES.

Unfortunately HorrorNews uses some shitty html using frames so I can’t give you a direct link without stripping the header, footer, and sidebars… but here it is anyways.

Cadaver Lab Episode 48: Final Nightmare/Friday Retrospective

January 9th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

So, this is it!  We finally got all the way through our Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th combo retrospectives…  In this episode we tackle Jason X, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, and Freddy vs. Jason.  Thank goodness that these films have more to offer than some of the “middle” sequels in either of these series because, though I love all the movies, they weren’t particularly great for the conversation.  I mean, how many times can you say: “Then he went on a huge killing spree, then he died” and still make it interesting.

Of course, we do voicemails and some other listener feedback.

Music for this episode:

Finally, we have an important announcement from Sam.

Technical Issues on the Forums!!!

January 8th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

The forums are currently down.  I don’t know exactly what happened, but I’m under the impression that some of the data is corrupt or otherwise unusable.  I apoligize for this and will do my best to get them up once again!

EDIT: After spending all morning trying to figure out exactly what’s going on, I noticed that some data in the database has been corrupted.  Maybe I should have backed this up :(  Anyhow, basically I’ve reinstalled all the forums with a clean slate.  Unfortunately that means that for those of you who have been participating and want to continue participating you’ll have to re-sign up… I’m so sorry for this, I still can’t figure out how it happened.

For those of you who had the forums bookmarked, I changed the location of the forums.  The new direct url is http://www.cadaverlab.com/forums.

Hopefully you guys will forgive this and re-sign up for the forums and things will go forward just like before!

Thanks!

Hack/Slash on Examiner

January 4th, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

It has been quite a while since I’ve had the chance to write up something for the Examiner… Alright, you got me… I’m one lazy son of a buck.

Either way, I just finished reading through the Hack/Slash Omnibus vol 1.  Awesome horror comic!  You know how sometimes you think that you never saw a certain movie because you’d like the opportunity to watch it again for the first time?  Well, that’s how I’m feeling with a lot of horror comics.

I expect to start writing more on the subject of horror comics.  There is just so much great material out there that I would be remiss if I neglected it.

Go ahead and check it out on my Examiner page!

Cadaver Trax: The People Under the Stairs

January 2nd, 2010 - 0 Comment(s)

As Ferguson, who is huddled by his fireplace in a nutsack-freezing mountain town nestled somewhere in the Wasatch mountains, is putting the final touches on December’s CTX, From Dusk Till Dawn, he has given us the word as to what the next CTX will be.

Starring Marsellus Wallace and some kid that was in a movie that had Michael Jackson turning into a spaceship, who then blasted his way back to his home planet (you don’t really think he’s dead… do you?); The People under the stairs tells the story of a young woman’s journey of sexual self-discovery in the prairie while at odds and the puritanical lifestyle of the townsfolk and the lack of any eligible males (except for the kid who had the jumpiest frog in Calivarous County.  Wait… That was Little House on the Prairie…  This movie is just like Little House except for instead of Michael Landon, the father figure is played by the creepy dude who was the werewolf in The Silver Bullet…

Anyway, watch The People Under the Stairs while recording your thoughts.  Send the audio file that you have created to ferguson@cadaverlab.com… or use a service such as the one found at sendspace.com (or email mike@cadaverlab.com if you need help).

This CTX is due January 31, 2010!
